Michael's First Mariner Game
Michael loved his first ball game. He got a bit antsy but we had enough folks there to juggle him around with Darrius, Raven, and Allison, Grandpa, and Grandpa's friend Tony. The Mariners won 14-6. He enjoyed "shaking" to the songs, pointing out every plane that went past, and waving and saying hi to everyone he saw with food. Michael also got to swing a bat at the kids section and thought the escalator was super cool. Michael smiled for the camera for the first time today too...we had just never asked him before. It's a VERY goofy, scrunchy-face smile that he knows full well is going to make everybody laugh. He's also fist-bumping and high-fiving like a pro (high-fives have been around for a few months but the fist bumping he picked up real quick just this week...just had to show him what to do).
We went to the Blackberry festival in Bremerton yesterday with Ben, and Michael had a great time, had some fair food, and got to dance to some live music. He tried oysters and prawns and was not a fan of either of them. Root beer floats, however, won his approval. At the end he saw a man directing a robot with a controller (part of the kids exhibit) and was enthralled. He said bye to everyone he saw on our way back to the car.
The day before the festival we went out with Ben to see Jennifer and Donna at Kopachuck State Park during low tide on the mud flats. Michael waded right into the water in all his clothes. He got to see a crab and wanted to step on it. We stopped him and told him the crab wanted to dig itself back into the beach, so Michael promptly started burying it with fistfuls of wet sand. He also got to hold live sand dollars and found many interesting shells and rocks to dig with. He pointed out boats and saw his first seal. Michael wanted to explore the many trails back from the beach and climbed almost all the way back up to the parking lot like a trooper.
Word update: Today he said Auntie (sounds more like annie) and Yaya (trying to work on Allison's nicknames). He's also now saying Papa, apple, light (ite), boat, ball, hot (and knows what things are hot...most of the time), hat, butt, and quite handily "help" has finally come around. He also says night night, both at bed time and when he's sleepy (which is helpful).
